Brittany Higgins is a nationally recognised advocate for workplace safety, justice, and institutional accountability in Australia. As a director at Third Hemisphere, she brings a unique blend of lived-experience, government relations, strategic communications, and public advocacy to her role.

With more than a decade’s worth of media experience working in politics, as well as the public and not-for-profit sectors, Brittany has become a prominent voice in public policy, gender equity, and workplace reform in Australia.

Brittany began her career in government at the state and federal level, serving as a media adviser for numerous parliamentarians and across several ministerial portfolios. These national portfolio areas included employment, skills, small business, and defence industry.

In these high-stakes roles, she was responsible for crafting media releases, managing stakeholder communications, and leading rapid-response efforts during critical policy announcements. Her work involved close coordination with ministers, senior advisors, journalists and departmental heads to shape narratives on employment policy, defence capability, and economic reform.

Her passion for equity and systemic change propelled her to broader advocacy, where she became a powerful voice for workplace safety, gendered violence and cultural reform in Australian politics. As the Inaugural Visiting Fellow at the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership, Brittany worked to advance intersectional feminism and influence national legislative reform.

Her lobbying efforts were instrumental in prompting a historic review of parliamentary workplace culture by Australia’s Sex Discrimination Commissioner, leading to the federal government's commitment to implement the full slate of recommendations of the Set The Standard report. 

A skilled communicator, Brittany has given a keynote address at the National Press Club, spoken at the nationally televised #March4Justice rallies, and has been featured across major media outlets including The Project, Marie Claire, and the Australian Financial Review.

In addition to her frontline advocacy and media roles, Brittany has lent her expertise to state-level initiatives. She served as a Media Adviser to the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria. Her professional reach also includes interim policy and communications roles with the Queensland Human Rights Commission, the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) Committee, and Glowing Green Australia, where she supported human rights advocacy and environmental initiatives.

Brittany's academic background includes a Bachelor of Communications and a Bachelor of Business from Griffith University. She is currently completing a MBA. In recognition of her advocacy and impact, Brittany has received multiple accolades, including the Edna Ryan Grand Stirrer Award, was named a finalist for the Australian Human Rights Medal, and was listed on the AFR Power List.
